I found it quite easy to change the battery. Order the rechargeable battery from Aliexpress, cut the fob open with a sharp blade, desolder / resolder battery, super glue all back together, mask BMW logo & blade, spray case with matt black. Then place on toothbrush charger overnight for good measure. Mike, The radiator fan is controlled by a theromstat which detects the coolant temperature and as it rises above a pre set limit the fan will cut in to reduce the temperature. Sounds like either the thermostat is defective or the temperature sensor. Diagnostic check should identify the fault code.
